Corporate Foundations

Corporate foundations may be structured in different ways.  Some simply pass-through funds that represent a portion of each year’s net income and are managed in short-term fixed income vehicles.  These types of funds are typically spent within a year on issues of interest to the organization and their employees.  Other corporate foundations are managed in a fashion similar to long-term endowment funds and are intended to remain in perpetuity to benefit not just today’s generation but also future generations.  For corporate foundations with endowment-style investments, Mason may have a solution to meet your needs.  Mason can help you structure your Investment Policy Statement (IPS), asset allocation and rebalancing plan and select investment options to assist you in meeting your long-term goals.  In addition, Mason’s experience in developing spending policies may help support your goal of providing for current beneficiaries while preserving assets for tomorrow’s beneficiaries as well.

Mason was founded in 1982, and today our institutional division represents a significant portion of our assets under management.  Our institutional practice includes foundations, endowments, corporate funds and retirement plans and we manage short, intermediate and long-term portfolios.  As we have expanded over the years, we have built a track record of client retention, investment performance and a knowledge base that may be useful to your staff, committee and board.

Is There a “Best” Service Model?
Mason provides a range of services and service models.  We recognize that each committee is unique.  Some committees prefer to maintain the final decision-making authority over every manager hire/fire decision, each buy/sell order and every rebalancing opportunity.  Other committees prefer to focus more on policy and less on implementation.  In either case, Mason has a solution.
