The Harrison County Community Foundation and Mason Investment Advisory Services, Inc. Present:

How Charitable Plans Benefit Clients and Further Their Personal Planning Goals, Featuring Ethics

Session Overview

This three-hour Continuing Education program focuses on helping professional advisors include charitable gift planning in their estate and financial planning for clients.  This session will cover how and why these plans can be highly advantageous, what types of plans and vehicles are allowed by federal Tax Code, and how and when to use them both during life and in estate and financial plans.  Optimal assets for clients to use in such plans both revocable and irrevocable will be identified, highlighting how and why to use those assets to diversify a portfolio and further personal family planning goals, enjoying tax advantages too.  An hour will be devoted to ethical concerns illustrated by case studies, each one arising from real scenarios, incorporating charitable options and who might be included in those conversations.

Presenter – Pamela Jones Davidson, J.D.

Pamela Jones Davidson, J.D., has been a nationally recognized motivational speaker in charitable gift planning for decades. She is President of Davidson Gift Design, Bloomington, Indiana, consulting and specializing in presentations about all aspects of gift planning to every audience a nonprofit wants to reach, including training and orientation. She was an examiner in the IRS Estate and Gift Tax Division and practiced law in Indianapolis before joining the nonprofit sector in 1985.

Ms. Davidson was the 1999 President (now, Chair) of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (then, “NCPG”), after serving on its board for six years. She was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2018, its second class, and is a member of its Leadership Institute.

Ms. Davidson is a past board member and treasurer of the Indiana Chapter of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives (now, “AFP”), and a past board member and president of the Planned Giving Group of Indiana.
